University represented at prestigious event honouring Her Majesty The Queen
Twelve staff, alumni and friends of the University will be attending a momentous event to recognise the long service of The Queen in the presence of members of the Royal Family.
Her Majesty The Queen is Patron of the University of Leicester and as her 90th birthday approaches, we invited staff and alumni to represent the University of Leicester at The Patron’s Lunch on Sunday 12 June on The Mall in St. James’s Park, London.
The Patron’s Lunch promises to be an iconic event recognising the un-relenting support and service our Monarch has given to the community over her 63 year reign. The Mall will be the centrepiece to a truly magnificent spectacle with 10,000 guests, the majority of whom will be representatives from the Patron’s Organisations, taking part in a classic British ‘street party’.
The invited guests will enjoy a hamper-style lunch at tables positioned along the full length of The Mall, with entertainment and Union Flags galore. Her Majesty The Queen will be joined by the Duke of Edinburgh and other members of the Royal Family to celebrate the occasion. Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry will reside as Joint-Presidents of The Patron’s Lunch; honouring the dedication shown by Her Majesty to so many charities and organisations.
