Leicester finalist in annual eco-friendly competition
Our University has been shortlisted in the Green Gown Awards 2016, which recognise exceptional sustainability initiatives undertaken by universities and colleges.
Leicester has been shortlisted in the ‘Enterprise and Employability’ category for its Applied Learning in Sustainability (APPLES) initiative, which allows our students to grow their own ideas into realistic business cases and project proposals to sharpen their skills for their future career.
From our nationally recognised environmental volunteering scheme Leicester has placed the student voice at the core of our sustainability work with delicious results.
Established in 2004, the Green Gown Awards recognise the exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities, colleges and the learning and skills sectors across the UK and Ireland as the education sector leads a path to efficiency, employability and better quality of life for us all.
This year the winners will be announced at a ceremony being held in Leicester at The Athena in the city’s Cultural Quarter on 10 November which will be sponsored by Leicester in partnership with De Montfort University and the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges.
