Visions of Leicester campus feature in exhibition
The Attenborough Arts Centre is hosting a solo exhibition by Leicester-based Maria Collingham, featuring paintings that portray our University.
Maria is currently exhibiting a selection of landscape paintings until 6 March. The exhibition chronicles an aspect of Maria’s development as an artist through bringing together paintings she produced as an undergraduate in 1993, and recent work she has produced inspired by her rediscovery of those paintings.
The exhibition, entitled ‘Shimmer Darkly’, features oil paintings and drawings painted on site at the University’s Botanic Garden and cityscapes which feature the iconic University towers.
Maria, whose Doctorate is in Fine Art (practice based), teaches at Attenborough Arts.
The exhibition is free and open from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and Sundays from 12pm to 4pm.
