Love letter to Leicester Inner Ring Road may sooth the pain of city traffic jams

A video produced by our University has been featured by the Leicester Mercury in an article discussing historical Leicester.

The footage, filmed by Colin Hyde (pictured) from the East Midlands Oral History Museum Archive (EMOHA), acts as a kind of love letter to Leicester's Inner Ring Road, which many in the city do not really like but can't live without - and takes us on two circuits of the five kilometre road often associated with the worst excesses of Leicester's 1960s planning.

It also tells the story of the road and the buildings lining it through anecdotes of the people who have driven it.

Recent research from the EMOHA has examined Leicester's curious historical habits, including baking crow pie and fattening pigs.
