Leicester shortlisted for four national awards

The Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards (THELMA) have been announced and our University features in four categories.

The THELMAs are now in their eighth year and showcase and celebrate the best examples of innovation, teamwork and enterprise at HE institutions.

The University of Leicester is shortlisted in the following categories at the 2016 awards:

  • Outstanding Strategic Planning Team for the launch of our Strategic Plan in September 2015
  • Outstanding Procurement Team for the rapid transformation of the University’s Procurement Unit into a genuinely strategic function, based on a category management approach
  • Outstanding Development/Alumni Relations Team for their successful, high-level donor stewardship programme, the Silver Hearts Circle, which was established in 2011 during the Cardiovascular Research Centre Appeal and has been transformational to how we steward and solicit the University's top donors.
  • THE Data Points Merit Award which the University was selected for from the THE World University Rankings data collection, and compares reputation scores with those for research performance

Catherine Ogilvie, Director of External Relations, said: “We are delighted that innovative leadership and management at Leicester has been recognised in the THELMAs which showcase the best of, and are judged by, our peers in the Higher Education sector.

“We are proud that the valuable contribution of our professional services teams to the success of the University is being recognised.”

The awards dinner and ceremony will take place on Thursday 23 June at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. Over 1000 guests are expected to be in attendance, including politicians, senior sector figures, and academic and university staff from all corners of the UK.
