Strictly Comes to Leicester for Rugby World Cup

Leicester-based dancers are invited to attend a free two-day dance workshop with BBC Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Camilla Dallerup to celebrate the Rugby World Cup.

On Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September, series six champion Camilla, who won the glitterball trophy with actor Tom Chambers in 2008, will be teaching a specially choreographed dance routine at Attenborough Arts Centre.

Part of the Rugby World Cup cultural festival, Camilla will be creating a flamboyant and seductive tango which dancers will have the opportunity to perform for everyone to get into the spirit of the games around the city.

“What I love about dancing is that it’s an international language and it brings people from all over the world together, so how fitting to use dancers from Leicester to perform an Argentine Tango to welcome all the guests to the city who are supporting the Rugby World Cup,” explains Danish-born Camilla.

“I’m thrilled and excited to choreograph the piece and I can’t wait to start creating with the local dancers.”

Intermediate and advanced level dancers are invited to come and learn this specially choreographed routine with Camilla on Saturday 19 September 12-6pm and Sunday 20 September 10am-6pm.

The final routine will be performed at Leicester Train Station on Sunday 4 October from 12.30-2.30pm and Sunday 11 October from 10am-12pm as the city welcomes thousands of spectators from all over the world.
