Tackling issues of adult education in austere times

The Standing Conference on the University Teaching and Research in the Education of Adults (SCUTREA) will be hosted by the Vaughan Centre for Lifelong Learning in July 2016.

SCUTREA was established in 1971 as a network of adult educators involved in researching and teaching adults. A three day conference takes places each summer bringing together members and colleagues from across the globe to promote adult education research.

The theme of the 2016 conference will be 'Adult Education in Austere Times' and will explore the tensions between the politics of austerity and the benefits of adult education.

Dr Jim Crowther, Senior Lecturer in Community Education at the University of Edinburgh will deliver the key note speech at the event.

The conference will take place from Tuesday 5 to Thursday 7 July 2016 at College Court Conference Centre.
