Film screening to focus on migration and borders

The Leicester Migration Network is screening and hosting a free public discussion of ‘Everyday Borders’ on Wednesday October 28 at 6pm in the Attenborough Building, Room 206.

Leicester Migration Network brings together a dynamic group of migration scholars from a range of fields across the University as well as partners in the city. Convened by Dr Leah Bassel (pictured) from the Department of Sociology, this group explores migratory phenomena in all their complexity, ranging from traditional cross-border movements to new forms of transnational flows and exchanges.

This film screening will be an opportunity to discuss some of the aspects of the new immigration legislation and new requirements for different professions to act as border guards when performing their jobs:

The panel-led discussion following the screening will be chaired by Dr Bassel.
