Former Congressmen to be quizzed by students
Two former members of Congress, the national legislative body of the United States, will discuss issues surrounding the upcoming US presidential elections.
Jim Moran (Democrat, Virginia) and Tom Petri (Republican, Wisconsin) will be taking part in a Congress to Campus event organised by the Centre for American Studies on Thursday 12 November 2015 at 11.00am in the Astley Clarke Building Ground Floor Lecture Theatre.
Congress to Campus sees former members of the US Congress come to the UK to speak to students about how American politics works. This year will see a focus on the developing presidential election race as well as the ongoing clashes between the Obama White House and the Republican controlled Congress.
This year’s visiting former members of Congress are Tom Petri, who served as a Republican member of the House, representing the 6th district in Wisconsin from 1979 to 2015, and Jim Moran, a Democrat representing the 8th district in Virginia, from 1991 to 2015.
The event is free and open to the public.
