Diwali celebrations come to the Students Union
The Students’ Union has announced its line-up for this year’s Diwali Day on Wednesday 11 November 2015.
Students are invited to join in with the Diwali celebrations at Leicester which includes a Rangoli card making workshop, henna and body art, a film screening of Bollywood hit ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ and free Indian sweets.
Diwali is the five day Festival of Lights and is traditionally celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains and is one of the most significant festivals in Indian culture.
The full line-up in the Students’ Union Percy Gee Building is as follows:
11am-3pm – Film Screening of Bollywood hit ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ in the Training Room
12-4pm – Free Indian sweets from Mithaas in The Square
12-2pm – Rangoli card making workshop with Nayana Whittaker in the Alumni Room
12-3pm – Henna with Tina Mehendi in The Square
12-4pm – Amazing body art with Livi Lollipop in the The Square
12-4pm – The Hindu Society will also have a stall in The Square all day, pop along for a chat at some point in the day.
