Sporting Leicester students to represent Great Britain
Not one but two Leicester students will be representing Great Britain in international sporting events this summer.
The selected students are Ryan Hunt, currently in his second year in Interdisciplinary Science, and Kieran Slater from Physics & Astronomy. They will be representing GB in white-water racing and archery, competing in Austria and Shanghai this June.
Last August, Ryan converted from flat water sprinting to white-water racing and so is delighted to have been selected for Great Britain where he will compete in a series of four races over different rivers. In November he won both the British University Championships on the river Washburn and the English Championships on the Tyne before going on to wrap up the Scottish Championships and the Welsh Championships.
Kieran Slater will join GB archery team, one of six archers who will compete at the first stage of the Archery World Cup in the recurve category in Shanghai. Archery GB have selected a mix of experience and youth from the squad to compete with Kieran being the latter of the two, he has been described as an extremely exciting prospect within the Archery GB squad.
