Dancing through life
A former professional dancer, Dr Heidi Ashton from the University’s School of Management has revealed some of the realities of working as a dancer in a new video interview.
A Teaching Fellow in the University’s Centre for Labour Market Studies, Heidi’s research focuses on the experiences and working conditions of dancers, noting that these have been declining over the last 20 years.
Having previously choreographed music videos and worked with Olympic athletes, Heidi can currently be seen appearing alongside Kate Winslet and Alan Rickman in A Little Chaos, beating off nearly 100 other dancers to land the part and later this year she will be appearing alongside Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy in Victor Frankenstein.
