International expert in pension and investment issues to speak for new society
The newly established Leicester Actuarial Science Society in the Department of Mathematics is already making an impact as they host the Master of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries and renowned actuary Donald Duval at their next meeting.
The Worshipful Company of Actuaries is sponsoring the lecture, which will take place on Wednesday 18 March 2015 at 2.30 pm in Attenborough Lecture Theatre 1.
Donald Duval is Chief Actuary at Aon Hewitt and an international expert in pension and investment issues, having been Australian Government Actuary from 1991 to 1996, and advising on pension reform in Hungary, Zimbabwe, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and South Korea.
In the past, Worshipful Company of Actuaries lectures have been delivered by some of the most senior actuaries in the profession and covered a variety of important current topics linked to actuarial science. Typically students and locally based actuaries attend each lecture, with the programme reaching over 1,000 students annually and giving them the opportunity to network and gain further insights into a future actuarial career.
This is a great opportunity to meet someone who has been at the cutting edge of what actuaries have been doing at the highest level for decades. There will be refreshments and a chance to chat to the speakers after the event in Bennett Lower Ground seminar room 5.
The Leicester Actuarial Science Society plans to stage a number of events over the next academic year which will be of interest to professionals working in actuarial, economic and other finance-related areas as well as students.
