Food available across University in the name of equality
The University's Residential and Commercial Services (RACS) is supporting International Women’s Day (IWD), which took place on 8 March, and is raising awareness of the campaign by offering a number of dishes which contain women’s names.
Between Monday 9 March and Friday 13 March, ‘Victoria’ sponge cakes and Prawn ‘Marie Rose’ sandwiches will be available for purchase in all of the University’s participating outlets.
On Thursday 12 March, staff, academics, postgraduates and visitors will be serve up a succulent rump steak with ‘Diane’ sauce, pommes ‘Anna’ and vegetables. To complete the meal there will also be apple ‘Charlotte’ and custard for dessert.
From Monday 9 March, the University has been holding a series of events that highlight women’s issues and on 11 March it unveiled its inaugural gallery of twelve inspirational women associated with the institution.
Elsewhere in RACS, the David Wilson Bookshop is promoting the works of female authors, while in accommodation, there are a number of events and activities planned to mark the occasion. You can also see portraits of the inaugural ‘Inspirational Women of Leicester’ in the Bookshop windows throughout the week commencing 11 March.
