Compost mentis new demonstration site at Botanic Garden
Green fingered visitors are invited to learn more about the art of composting at a new site at our Botanic Garden.
Home to a collection of compost bins and wormeries, the demonstration site at the Garden in Oadby shows just how easy it is to get the most from garden, and food waste.
Master Composters who volunteer at the Botanic Garden will be on hand on a weekly basis to share composting expertise and give tours to visitors.
Director of the Botanic Garden, Dr Richard Gornall, said: “This is a new venture for us and we hope it will stimulate a lot of interest. We may even be able to compost food waste from the nearby Halls of Residence, which will be a considerable achievement in the University’s drive to recycle as much of its waste as possible.”
