Dr Stuart Hamilton, a leading pathologist from the East Midlands Forensic Pathology Unit, is used to dealing with death and injury - in his line of work, investigating the cause of death in individuals is part of the job.
When he was invited by Axiom International to travel out of the country in order to investigate the torture and murder of 20,000 people during the current conflict in Syria, he would be committing several months of his life to exposing the truth about what had happened to the victims at the hands of the Assad regime.
Stuart is an expert in both autopsy practice and looking at injuries to assess likely cause and effect of death. His experience investigating deaths and cases of grievous bodily harm made him the go-to person to provide forensic expertise during this difficult case.
