This module provides an integrated overview of how global organisations navigate strategy, innovation, and operations to remain competitive in dynamic international markets. Through three interconnected themes : Strategic Management, Innovation, and Operations Management, you will explore key concepts, frameworks, and real-world practices that shape global business performance. With attention to digitalisation, emerging trends, and strategic decision-making, the module prepares you to think critically and act effectively in complex global environments.

Unit 1: Strategic Management

This unit develops your understanding of strategic management in international contexts. You will explore foundational and contemporary strategy frameworks, including tools for internal and external environment analysis. Topics include the strategic planning process, competitive advantage, dynamic capabilities, and various other strategies enabling you to evaluate international business strategies with rigour and confidence.

Unit 2: Innovation

This unit explores the role of innovation in driving global business success. You will examine key concepts, models, and approaches to innovation, and consider how new ideas, technologies, and business models can shape organisational strategy and performance. Also, you will examine the broader impact of digitalisation and emerging trends, offering insight into how innovation can transform industries and create long-term value in the global business environment.

Unit 3: Operations Management

This unit focuses on global operations strategy and the fundamentals of managing international logistics and supply chains. You’ll explore how operations strategies are developed and aligned with broader business goals, and examine key concepts such as the transformation model, the 4Vs of operations, and supply chain management. You will also be introduced to mainstream operations management philosophies and performance measurement approaches to help improve efficiency, responsiveness, and competitiveness in a global context.
