Clinical Skills: Axial Anatomy
Module code: PH1005
In this module, you will gain an understanding of the anatomy of the axial skeleton - the skull, vertebral column, rib cage, and the sternum and undertake an exploration of gait and posture.
Through practical classes and guided study, you will learn about the osteology, arthrology, myology and neurology of the axial skeleton. You will develop vital palpation and handling skills which will help you identify and explore bony landmarks, joint lines, soft tissues and neural structures in the cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral regions. You will discover how to analyse movement involved in simple and more complex functional activities. Plus, you will study the application of the anatomical knowledge gained during this module to basic clinical scenarios you will encounter during your work as a physiotherapist.
