Human Rights and Health Care Law

The aims of this module are to explore the impact of human rights principles in the area of health care law. More specifically, there will be a discussion of the basic principles of human rights relevant to the health care context. The module will cover topics which may include the right to health, the right to autonomy and consent to medical treatment, conflicting rights in respect of abortion, the right to life and the right to die. Reference will be made to selected case law at both domestic and international level and you will be able to apply human rights principles to health care dilemmas.
