Freedom of Expression
Module code: LW7078
This module provides an introduction to the law which regulates freedom of expression in a contemporary western liberal democracy. The module will cover a variety of topics, ranging from differentiating between different forms of ‘expression’, to contemporary challenges such as regulating pornography and tackling ‘hate speech’. Whilst this module examines freedom of expression primarily from the perspective of UK law, detailed reference is also made to the relevant legal standards in the Council of Europe and North America. The aim of the module is to provide you with detailed knowledge and an in-depth understanding of the law governing freedom of expression.
