In this module you will be introduced to postwar Italian literature through the study of selected works, authors and genres, such as the novel and the modern short story. Texts are read in Italian and in English translation. You will gain an understanding of the history of postwar Italian literature, some of its key writers, and the genres of the novel and the short story. At the end of this module we will be able to demonstrate an awareness of the development of postwar Italian literature and will have developed the necessary analytical skills to analyse literary texts and place them in their historical and cultural context.
