Reading Film

Reading Film is a first year survey module intended to introduce you to how we go about ‘reading’ (analysing, interpreting, understanding) film texts. The module is based on close readings of a range of different types of films. You will have the opportunity to analyse the film texts from various perspectives ranging from film techniques to film style. The discussion will be informed by critical literature that exemplifies a range of theoretical approaches to film studies.

The module will include additional seminars and assessment that allow you to enhance your academic skills – focusing on researching primary and secondary sources, academic writing and film analysis.
