Ecology, Climate and Land-use processes of the Amazon Tropical Forests
Module code: GY3440
This module focusses on modern concepts in ecology and the connections between climate and land-use processes. The module aims to understand, quantify and predict the future of the Amazon forests in a changing world. We begin with an introduction to the primary biochemical cycles in tropical ecosystems (e.g., carbon, nitrogen, and methane). We then consider several climate and land-use change scenarios, and in doing so, we seek to illustrate the interactions between the biosphere and the atmosphere across the Amazon region.
