Literature for Children and Young Adults

On this module we’ll explore literature aimed at young people, ranging from some of the earliest such works in English to contemporary novels. From explosive medieval magic to nineteenth-century adventures and twenty-first century dystopias, literature aimed at children and young adults has always tested the boundaries. 

We'll investigate issues such as censorship, commercialisation, gender, race, and how ideas of 'childhood' have altered over the centuries.
