Signals and Systems
Module code: EG2232
In this module, you will delve into the fundamental scientific concepts and characteristics of continuous-time and discrete-time signals, such as amplitude, frequency, phase, and time-domain representations. This module covers essential mathematical tools, including convolution, Fourier transforms, Laplace transforms and Z-transforms, to analyse and model linear time-invariant systems. You will also design realistic mathematical models for basic signal processing systems using software tools like MATLAB, and evaluate electronics circuits to solve problems related to signal processing, filtering, and modulation. Through lectures, hands-on laboratory work and coursework, you will gain skills to tackle real-world engineering challenges in communication systems, image processing and audio processing, while effectively presenting your ideas and analyses.
