Engineering Management and Business Simulation

Module code: EG2023

Biomaterials are materials used in the treatment of human injury or disease, either by themselves or as parts of more complex medical devices. In this introductory module, you will learn about the clinical need of biomaterials, understand the different classes of materials, their structure-function relationships and their role in effective tissue repair and regeneration. You will also understand and demonstrate how a simple biomaterial can be produced and how it might be tested during pre-clinical testing. Finally, you will carry out systematic materials selection processes to select and apply appropriate materials for simple clinical applications.
