Mathematics is the most powerful and important tool of a professional engineer. Many people will have slightly different maths qualifications before joining our engineering programmes, so the first semester module is designed to bring everyone’s maths skills up to the level required.

Some topics like differentiation and integration may be familiar to many of you, but others, like complex numbers, will probably be new to most. The teaching is through a combination of lectures and problem workshops, so you'll learn both the underlying mathematical theory and be supported through many example problems to develop your skills.
