For this module you will build your knowledge from Principles of Accounting (EC2076) by taking a closer look at the day to day measurements of a firms financial activities undertaken by accountants. This module will look at financial accounting and how financial statements are prepared and how they are used to convey information to shareholders, investors and partners.
Accountants work behind the scenes of companies to produce meticulous records of financial transactions - known as bookkeeping - to generate summaries of financial activities in the form of financial reports. This module will delve into different systems of bookkeeping and how annual reports from companies can be analysed using ratio analysis and cash flow statements. You will also have the chance to prepare your own financial statements, balance sheets and income statements and take a look at how these principles differ between sole traders, partnership and limited (Ltd) companies.
