As a result of the global financial crash many inadequate practices in risk management within the banking industry have been bought to light. Understanding the systems and principles that govern how banks function is important to preventing another financial crash. This module will take an international look at the characteristics of banking systems and the purpose of central banks, and how their actions influence how much money is in the country and monetary policy -the cost of borrowing.
To gain a better understanding of the finer details of banking system you will analyse balance sheets, income statements and income structures, and discuss what approaches are needed for bank and risk management. You will use your analytical tools gained from first year to apply different theories of banking to explain real-world financial regulation.
