Archaeological Heritage
Module code: AR7601
This module will introduce you to key themes in the study of heritage. The early sections will explore the concept of heritage in its diverse forms (both tangible and intangible), and how this is linked to ideas of value and memory. These themes are then linked in an exploration of conservation, restoration and reconstruction. The module investigates heritage at different scales, from community through to World heritage and UNESCO. This is used to build into key themes around conflict and tourism. The final sections of the module explore heritage communication through interpretation of excavations, education and the media.
Assessment for this module involves producing a site analysis and an essay.
