Greek and Roman Art: Ancient and modern contexts

In this module we will investigate past approaches to art from the Greek and Roman world and explore how our understandings of classical art have developed. We will pay particular attention to the physical and social contexts of this art (e.g. architectural art, domestic wall painting and mosaics, religious and funerary sculpture). You will also examine current methodological and theoretical approaches to classical art.
