Contemporary Conflict Analysis

This module provides an advanced and comprehensive engagement with contemporary conflict analysis. Drawing upon a range of debates and contributions from anthropology, criminology, gender studies, international politics, law, psychology and sociology, the module offers an inter-disciplinary insight into the character of conflict and post-conflict transformations in the 21st century.
The first part of the course gives you the opportunity to interrogate the dominant accounts of the causes of contemporary conflict. The second part focuses upon critically exploring the evolving character and practice of contemporary conflict, focusing upon a series of violent dilemmas. The final part of the course then analyses the issues that must be addressed by societies in the aftermath of violence.
