Climate Change: Ethics, Issues, Justice
Module code: PL3140
This module uses the issue of climate change to help you understand key problems in political philosophy, and how solving them can assist in addressing urgent contemporary problems. The module is taught using a mixture of theoretical discussion and case-study-focussed group-work to help relate theory to real world issues and practice. The module explores the wrongs caused by anthropogenic climate change and the problems associated with assigning responsibility for those wrongs and duties to address its effects. Topics students will discuss include collective action problems, principles of distributive justice, national responsibility, environmental ethics, and problems of disagreement and dissent in politics.
