Project in Practice: Developing Socially Engaged Practice in Museums and Galleries

Module code: MU7548

This module is delivered together with a museum partner that has positioned itself at the cutting edge of socially engaged practice in museums and galleries. You'll be provided with a creative, structured, and well-supported opportunity to develop, undertake and critically reflect upon a project of your own choosing in a museum or gallery context you are familiar with. This may, if you wish, be a project designed by our museum partner, or may be a project you envisage for your own place of work. It allows you the chance to develop expertise in one particular area of socially engaged practice through work-based learning.

A highly experienced museum-based professional will mentor you through your project. This unique opportunity enables you to have in-depth access to knowledge and support from a leading edge practitioner in socially engaged practice. The module is designed to allow you to be innovative and try out new ideas in the field. It will help you to develop your practice in a way that is underpinned by research, values, and partnerships.
