Module Outline
This module explores how different kinds of film (classical cinema, art cinema, documentary and animation) communicate meaning to audiences through a series of case studies – and some great films. By the end of the module you will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the study of film as mass communication
- Engage with theorists and critics of film theories
- Manifest an understanding of film language
- Analyse films textually and contextually and use films to support critical work
