Evidencing Senior Leader Praxis
Module code: MN7716
This apprentice-centred module runs throughout the Senior leader Apprenticeship / Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration programme and is designed to help you build the evidence you need to write a portfolio of evidence to highlight how you undertake the requisite 12 duties expected of a Senior Leader, as outlined in the Senior Leader Apprenticeship standard, and have gained the associated knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs). The module is also designed to prepare you to undertake a structured professional discussion of around one hour on your competency to act as a Senior Leader based on what you’ve written for your portfolio. The portfolio must contain around 18 pieces of discrete evidence of your KSBs attainment and clearly map what KSBs you meet. Evidence can include: videos/audio; written statements/testimonials; project plans; observation reports; presentations; feedback from line managers and/or peers (based on evidence not just their opinions); papers or reports that you’ve written; and performance reviews.
You are supported in the development of your portfolio of evidence and professional discussion by an apprenticeship tutor, whom you will meet at regular intervals throughout the programme, together with your line manager in tri-partite meetings. After an initial evaluation on commencement of the programme to assess what Senior Leader KSBs you have already attained and what duties you are undertaking in your job, these tri-partite meetings will help you ensure that you stay on track to attain all the necessary KSBs required for, and are undertaking the relevant duties of, a Senior Leader, by the end of the programme.
This module is designed to ensure that you not only think like a Senior Leader but also are able to act like one and, importantly, that you can demonstrate these competencies in your job whilst on the programme.
