Statistical Data Analysis

Module code: MA2206

Statistics is the branch of mathematics that is used in the study of data, trends and uncertainties and is a fundamental aspect of data analysis for empirical scientists, mathematicians and engineers.  In this module we will introduce statistical analysis techniques and their graphical techniques.

We will then move onto more complex modelling techniques, such as the linear regression model used to model relationships between two variables, and extend this model to a more general framework, which allows the possibility of including a number of analyses in one general approach -the generalized linear model.. You will apply these statistical principles and interpret the results of the statistical analysis. This module will introduce fundamental concepts of Bayesian statistic, including how to compute Bayesian estimators and apply Bayesian statistics to predict uncertainty in future events.
