Law in the Community: Pro Bono

Module code: LW3294

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn."

This module, overseen by the Legal Advice Clinic, may be the most practical module on offer at the Law School. You will choose a client-facing eligible pro bono project, or a Clinic special project, to apply to. The roles on offer from year to year may include Miscarriages of Justice caseworker, Refugee Family Reunion caseworker, Amicus Researcher, or Windrush caseworker. Clinic special projects may include setting up and running a new clinic targeting a specific legal issue or community group. You will also learn more and reflect on how the law applies to real life scenarios.

After a short induction period, your work on the project (minimum 50 hours during the academic year) will count as your work on the module. You will learn professional skills such as time management, presentation skills, CV skills, and a range of other skills depending on the project you choose.
