Radical Histories

Module code: HS2239

What is currently considered as being radical? What individuals and movements were seen as radical in their historical context?

Over the course of this module you'll be analysing radical history in Britain and Israel/Palestine. You’ll be reflecting upon how historians have written about these movements, including the ways in which radical and socialist thought transformed our understanding of the industrial revolution, class and nationalism.

During seminars you'll critically analyse the different types of radical history, and consider their purposes. A variety of histories will be explored, and you'll differentiate between traditions of historical writing to develop your understanding of Radicalism.
