Geographers are renowned for their map creation skills. This skill has not changed over the centuries. In today’s society we have access to vast amounts of information in a digitised form with spatial and temporal characteristics that requires mapping for visual understanding and interpretation. Future geographers need to learn how to utilise tools and learn skills to help them present data in an informative way for their professional and academic development. The impact that map creation and GIS is having on a number of themes within both human and physical geography will be explored.
