Science 1: Materials

In this module you will study materials from the microscopic to the macroscopic perspective. Beginning with the ability of materials to cope with stresses and strains, and zooming in to the atom itself, you will gain a detailed understanding of atomic and nuclear processes including radioactivity, excitation and ionisation, interatomic and molecular bonding and crystal structures, and the origin of material bulk properties and how these may be manipulated.
