Dissertation

Module code: EN7227

The dissertation represents the culmination of your MA studies, and your chance to put into practice what you have learned from your core and optional courses through a critical exploration of a topic of your choice. A student-led session will allow you to discuss preliminary ideas amongst yourselves. This will be followed by a formal, though unassessed presentation, which will put forward a proposal for your dissertation. In consultation with a supervisor, you'll then plan and develop your ideas through a series of written drafts over the summer.

Previous topics include: Authority in Chaucer’s House of Fame; Shakespeare and the sea; Professional women in the novels of Anne and Charlotte Brontë; British women poets of the Second World War; Americanisation and language in the works of Stephen Crane and Willa Cather.
