American Literature in the Twenties and Thirties

Module code: EN1005

This module explores American fiction and poetry of the 1920s and 1930s, an era that encompasses the aftermath of the First World War, the 'Jazz Age', the Wall Street Crash and the Depression. The module aims to introduce you to key writers of the period and a range of literary styles. It places the texts in their social and historical context, and encourages consideration of the ways in which they can be read as artistic responses to that context.
