Heat Transfer and Energy Systems

Module code: EG3112

This is a specialist Mechanical Engineering module (also available to General Engineering students) where you'll learn to calculate how heat travels through engineering components, and how it is transferred between solids, liquids and gases. These calculations are needed to design many engineering components such as heat exchangers, pumps and fans.

As engineers, we often need to select the right component when designing a system, so this will also be covered in this module. Renewable and less conventional energy sources are increasingly important as we try to limit the environmental impact of human activities, so this module will also give you the knowledge of systems that are likely to be increasingly important over your future career.
