Effective Pedagogy and Assessment
Module codes: ED7612, ED7613
This option aims to complement and build on your teaching experience, embedding what you have learned and making connections between pedagogical theory and practice in an explicit way. The option is flexible to focus on different 'current issues' as they arise in national arenas and on your own professional settings.
The best teachers engage with the wider educational community and keep abreast of developments in education. So you will be encouraged to read professional publications such as the TES (Times Educational Supplement), access online forums and become involved with professional teachers’ associations. Critically reflecting on changes to the National Curriculum as well as coming changes in public examinations will be a key focus and in particular, we will consider the implications of these for practice in schools.
You will address effective use of assessment to support teaching and learning and cover issues of inclusion within classroom practice, including the use of differentiation. Throughout the course you will reflect collaboratively on your practice, in the light of theory, with peers from a range of school settings beyond your own immediate workplace.
