Environmental Economics

Module code: EC3092

Nuclear power, carbon emissions, burning fossil fuels and deforestation are all factors that have led to rapid changes in our environment that will most likely continue to speed up the rate of climate change. There is a growing concern and call to action to protect the environment and environmental economics plays an essential role in identifying what policies and solutions need to be implemented to answer these growing concerns. Environmental economists face issues on how to actually make significant changes to impact and protect the environment at the individual, national and international level. These are some of the central themes this module will try to tackle, and will look at issues on how environmental policies impact the economic welfare.
