Macroeconomics is the branch of economics that is involved in large scale economic factors that are involved in economic growth. This module will help you to appreciate the concepts of:

  • National accounting
  • GDP (gross domestic product)
  • Inflation
  • Unemployment
  • Balance of payments
  • Economic growth

This module will give you the platform to familiarise yourself with basic macroeconomic principles by applying verbal reasoning, diagrammatic analysis and some techniques from elementary algebra and elementary calculus to make deductions from simple macroeconomic problems. You will gain the knowledge of basic monetary and fiscal policy tools available to government authorities, as well as their likely consequences. This will help you to evaluate the basis for the public policies that influence the behaviours of the national economy.
