Hate, Extremism and 'Everyday' Prejudice
Module code: CR7154
Recent global events have demonstrated that prejudice, hate and extremism continue to pose significant social problems. By examining theory, research and policy, this module seeks to explore how prejudice is learnt; how it manifests itself through ‘everyday’ forms of verbal abuse and harassment, hate crime and extreme violence such as genocide and terrorism; how these forms of targeted victimisation affect victims, their families and wider communities; and how ‘everyday’ prejudice, hate and extremism can be tackled through legislation, policy and interventions.
