Policing in Practice

Module code: CR3034

This module applies key concepts and debates considered throughout the course to the practice of policing. We will examine new and emergent forms of policing, and specialisms within the police, to critically consider the complexity of policing as an activity. Throughout this module we will explore the relationship between theory and research in policing, and policing policy and practice, drawing on the development of evidence-based policing. We consider this in the context of police legitimacy and the professionalisation of the police service. By taking this module, you will develop an in-depth understanding of the meaning and implication of research and evidence.
