Managing Security and Risk in Healthcare Settings
Module code: CR2517
In this module we will examine the types of external and internal threats that are posed to healthcare organisations, particularly hospitals and secure facilities. We will consider the particular risk and security issues that are generated in healthcare settings including: use and storage of sensitive data; offences committed by staff (unlawful homicide, theft of drugs and hospital property); assaults on staff and premises by service users. We will also discuss ways of responding to, and managing, a diverse population of service users which includes physically and mentally impaired patients, vulnerable people and potentially dangerous individuals.
